Hotel Metkovic
Hotel "Metković" is the second hotel to open in the city, and was built on the western corner of the intersection of Glavna Street and the then Plokata, which it partially encloses. The barber Jozo Levantin commissioned the construction in 1907, and the hotel was completed and opened a year later. Like the "Austria", it had 16 guest rooms and had a café, restaurant and kitchen. The ground plan is in the shape of the letter "L", interrupted by a narrow wall surface at the intersection where a balcony used to be located next to the window opening.
The ground floor and first floor of the hotel are divided by a cornice, which is a characteristic of historicism, but the elongated first floor windows are decorated with a modest Art Nouveau rhombus ornament (in decorative plaster) on the window parapets. Smaller rectangular openings line the attic zone of the facade under the roof cornice. The window axes were originally connected by rectangular entrance openings, which were later replaced by a glass surface. The hotel also housed the Levantin family's apartment. During World War I, part of the space was occupied and repurposed by the Austrian army.
