Town of Metković

Metković is the second-largest town in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, on the banks of the Neretva River and at the administrative, economic and cultural centre of the Neretva Valley.

You can reach us by the A1 motorway or the Adriatic tourist road (D8-D9); visitors arriving by boat can use the Neretva quay in the town centre.

Metković has been an important transport hub since antiquity. Its port and railway were of exceptional importance to the Neretva Valley, Dalmatia and beyond in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Metković and the Neretva Valley are rich in plant and animal life, preserved in the Pod gredom, Prud and Orepak ornithological reserves.
